It’s been a fun week at the Henry house.
The kids came early and have been able to stay for a long visit.
I’ve been collecting Christmas ornaments since 1979 and have a couple of very full trees. Sarah had never heard all the stories about what each one represented. So we spread them out…and I started talking. (not a big stretch.)
Sarah is an incredible baker. Last summer she taught me to bake bread. (Actually, she taught me how she makes bread. I’m too chicken to try it.)
Saturday we attended the annual “Henry Family Christmas.” With almost 50 of us present, we were crammed in my sister-in-law’s house like sardines. (And we loved it.) We played Dirty Santa (read about this tradition here), ate lots of food, and caught up on all that had happened this year.
Now, it’s Christmas Eve, time to finish up the details, slow down and celebrate. It has been a good year for our family. Yet many are hurting and in pain.
Last week I posted this on my facebook page. It seems fitting, especially this week.
“Praying this morning…burdened…hurting for the world in general, a few especially. So much evil. So much confusion. Feeling a bit sad. Then was reminded that this is why we celebrate Advent–this confusion, this chaos, are no match for His peace. He has come, right into the very middle of it, so we might have life. That is profound. That is Good News!”
So from our house to yours…Merry Christmas!!!! May you celebrate the Christ child and know His peace.
